Front cover
Photography
With this photo I used the manual focus setting. This
allowed me to get the amount of detail I thought I needed. This also aloud me
to zoom to in to get a mid close-up shot with the right background.
I learnt that the t-stance is where the title of
the magazine is horizontal and the person in the image is vertical. This
creates the t-shape. I also learnt the difference between landscape and
portrait. i learnt that magazines use portrait photos and settings. I
didn't take any of my photos in landscape so this made them easier to edit
without cropping them too much. Most of my photos were in focus. There
were the odd pictures that were out of focus because id either moved or zoom to
far in or out. I learned that if the lighting is behind the person in the image
it is backlighting, which gives a sense of a more powerful image. I didn't give
much thought to my photos, as I didn't have much to work with whilst taking my
photos. This didn't really create any problems for my image and I just
improvised.
To develop my picture quality and style I need to
improve my people and communication skills so that I can talk and say where I
need the person to be.
Photoshop
In Photoshop I used tools such move,
transform, elliptical tool, paint bucket and effects. I didn’t find any of
the tools difficult to use as I had used them before. I added drop shadow to my
images so that I could make my text stand out. I used black writing and red and
green backgrounds to make the text more visible.
To improve my Front cover I would use more higher skilled effects and techniques to create a more professional look to my magazine. I would also use a different person to photography if I took them again.
The strengths of my front cover are the image quality and the text structure surrounded by the different shades of red glow.
